Here’s what the 47-year-old actress had to share with the mag:
On her new show Extant: The minute I started to read it, I couldn’t put it down. I thought, ‘Wow. This is different.’ It’s innovative. Molly is a strong female character, which I really love to play. Molly is a complicated woman with a complicated family. Who is a woman who goes away to space for a year and leaves her husband, first of all? Who is a woman who comes back pregnant and tries to handle it somehow on her own? That just felt like a complication that I wanted to be a part of.”
On putting movies on hold for television: “I was being offered parts that I felt like I had done before. They weren’t exciting enough for me to leave my family for four months. I realized some of the best writing especially for women, was on television.

The show is geared and focused towards teens and young adults. At this point it seems that Keke Palmer is moving from high to high and the skies the limit. No more “Akeelah and the Bee” she’s full grown now.
For the cover, the 20-year-old beauty wears a white Mel Mesh Cutout Long Sleeve Dress from Boohoo Boutique photographed by Dimitry Loiseau.
Inside, Keke talks about growing up on camera, her talk show idols and dealing with social media drama.
“Sometimes people feel the need to put me on a pedestal, but I don’t belong there,” she said. “I’m just a person who believes in what I can do and I want people to know that they can believe in themselves. I want young people to win.”
