Last month, he had us worried when he posted a photo of himself hanging from a noose to Instagram with the caption “Rest in peace Aug. Forever missed #holdyoudownforlife.” We figured out the photo was from the set of this video, and now we finally get to see what all this was about.
Through a disclaimer shared at the end of the video, August explains that he’s experienced suicidal thoughts in his life and offers a bit of encouragement to anyone currently going through it. Much like Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s classic “Crossroads” video, August and Pusha experience out-of-body death experiences throughout the video as they illustrate the lyrics of the song.
Let me tell you bout my self: I’m not scared to die
Been through so much shit, sometimes I wanna be in the sky
Wanna know how it feels to fly, wanna know how it feels to fly
Scared of hello, I ain’t scared of goodbye

See I grew up in the jungle, where everybody broke
A lot of n-ggas never make it, all they know is selling dope
Life ain’t easy in the Easy, murder capital
Might not make it here tomorrow, like I’m running outta hope
